I met Steve in the early 90s. He was a new teacher and came on board to the Headstart program. We shared lots of laughs and teasing. He was amazing with our indigenous pre -schoolers. The kids absolutely loved Steve. I left Headstart a year after Steve came on board to pursue some dreams. We were friends, Steve was excellent people, we always exchanged huge warm large smiles when our paths crossed and had a great catch up session.

I knew Steve in the 80’s. He kind, sweet and had the best smile and laugh. Today, Facebook was the way we connected with Steve sending concert suggestions, memes about the 80’s or anything to do with teaching. We hadn’t seen each other in person for 35 years but I know we were still friends.

I met Steve teaching. It’s been a long time since then but we still connected through social media about motorcycles, concerts and online memes. He would send ideas of things I could do with my son and things he thought I would laugh at. I’m glad I had the chance to get to know him.  My condolences to his family and friends.

My condolences to Steve’s family and friends. I honestly have so many fond memories of Steve over the last 15 years or so. I met Steve when he would come to sub in my classroom. We became fast friends, bonding over humour and music mainly. I would always love when Steve would come to teach in my classroom. To see him play, joke, laugh, and even sing with those little guys was always a fantastic way to spend the day. Steve and I loved to attend live music concerts and events together, and we saw most all of our favourite bands together! In some cases, multiple times. As time went on, especially after the accident on his motorcycle, he really became part of our family. Steve was always welcome to join us for the holidays, as well as on a regular evening for dinner! He loved to come over, have dinner, and have some fun teasing the kids! My girls really became close with Steve as well as the rest of our  kids. So many meals shared, and we would spend so much time just hanging out at the hospital while he was in recovery from the motorcycle accident! So many jokes and memes, it was always our favourite to tease and bug each other! Steve had an amazing sense of humour and was an amazing teacher who could grab the room’s attention so well! I will really miss Steve and the  time we spent together! Steve also wrestled with some things throughout his life. I knew that, but it wasn’t something we would dwell on often! I hope you have found some peace, my old friend!
