Susan P. Schenk

October 11, 1949December 24, 2019

Susan Phyllis Schenk October 11, 1949 – December 24, 2019 It is with the heaviest of broken hearts and utter shock that the family of Susan Phyllis Schenk (Gibson) announce her sudden and unexpected passing on December 24, 2019, at the age of 70 in Dunmore, AB. Susan will be lovingly remembered by her husband Gary, her stepdaughter Lani (Mark) Campbell and their daughter Mackenzie; son Drew (Erica) Schenk and their children Shaeane, Madison (Alex) Urzada, and Ty; daughter Maya (Jason Becker) Schenk and her son Tayte; daughter Andrea (Patrick Innes) Schenk and their children Jolene and Malcolm; and daughter Adrienne (Jocelyn) Schenk-Laewetz and their daughter Vayda. Susan will also be kept in the hearts of her siblings: Sandra (Ron) Crawley; Geri Thomas, and Butch (Dee) Gibson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of long-time friends whom she loved very much. She was predeceased by her mother, Melva Jean Usher, and her sisters Pam Smith and Ada Allen, as well as her in-laws, Velma and Addison Schenk. Born in Chicago on October 11, 1949, to a strong and independent mother, no one could have prepared for the wise and compelling force that was welcomed into the world on that day! No matter where she was, Susan always found a way to bring people together and create community to ensure her bucket was always full, including her most recent residence of Nanaimo, BC. A celebration of life will be held at 2pm on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Sunset United Church at 177 Sunset Drive, Regina, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Susan to Canadian Lutheran World Relief.

Gary and family,
Our son, Jon, received word from Lani of Susan's death and passed the message on to us. Both Jon (and his family) and Darlene and I live in Lincoln, Nebraska..
We were very shocked and saddened to hear of Susan's sudden death. We remember her well - and you, too, of course, Gary - when you were at Langenburg.
Darlene and I pass on to you and all your family our sympathy on the loss of such a lovely and vibrant person. May God's peace sustain you now and in the days ahead.

Dear Gary,
My heartfelt condolences on the loss of your precious wife Susan. News of her passing came as a shock to many of us who have come to cherish her in the midst of our Hope church family. Our feeling of loss can only be a shadow of the emptiness of your heart.
Susan has reached the end of her journey, and in so doing has achieved the goal of eternity.
May God hold you in the palm of His hand until you meet Susan again in the arms of our Savior and Lord.
We surround you with our thoughts, love and prayers. Frieda
