Tjitske Joyce (de Graaf) Bruce, born January 7th, 1956, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2020 surrounded by family. Joyce was predeceased by her parents Peter (2010) and Dorothy (2019) de Graaf; as well as her sister Sandra Steenbergen (1991); and mother-in-law Louise Bruce (2011). Left to cherish her memory are her husband Randy; son Byron (Cathy); daughter Julianne; and beloved dogs George and Pixel; as well as sisters Evelyn (Dennis), Pat (Steve), and Diane (Jim); brothers Gerald (Mary Joan) and Kevin; brother-in-law Pete (Janice); father-in-law Bob Bruce; and David, Vida (Rod), and Kelly (Carla); and not to forget her many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who called her Granty (great aunt); and her many friends that we met along the way.
Second only to her love of her family, was her love of nursing. Joyce was a nurse practitioner and educator for many years. The knowledge that she passed on to her students was immense. Joyce was on many national boards and had a big part in moving the nursing community forward. She was very outspoken in making nurse practitioner a household name. In November of 2020, Joyce was presented the Saskatchewan Association of Nurse Practitioners Leadership Award. She was profoundly proud of the work that she was able to do as a Nurse Practitioner.
Joyce will be greatly missed by many in the community, such as the White City Book Club that she was a member of for over 20 years, as well as the White City Garden club, the White City Library, and many others. Joyce also supported many charities including the MS Bike run.
The family would like to thank everyone that has reached out in this hard time. They are grateful for all the support of family and friends. They would also like to thank the fantastic nursing staff at the Pasqua hospital, especially on 3B and Barb from Palliative care. The family can not express the gratitude that they feel for the support that they have given them.
Due to COVID-19 there will not be a remembrance service at this time. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Canadian Cancer Society.
