Velma Brenda Rey

August 21, 1939 – April 12, 2012

Velma passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family and their love, on Thursday, April 12, 2012 in Regina, SK. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Al; her daughters Joanne (Jim) Morgan & Karen Rey (Barry Cyca); son Garth (Gwen); grandchildren Kim Morgan (Paul), Matt Morgan (Brett), Alexander and Nickolas Rey, Mandy (Brian) Ferguson and family; Sheri (Chad) Freeland and family, Jonathan (Kendra) Leier, Farrah Leier (Jonathan); sisters Rose Ursulan, Mary Flaman and Betty (Albert) Frank; sister-in-laws Anne Ursulan, Kathy Ursulan, Beth (Wilbert) Czemeres, Margaret (Clarence) Becker, Marleen Rey, Joyce Rey & Mary Rey as well as numerous nieces & nephews and extended family. Velma is reunited in heaven with her parents Augustine (Jim) and Julia Ursulan; her brothers John, Jim and Peter and her sister Kate Bacsu. Velma was born in the Arbury district, and was the youngest of eight children. She married Al on October 8, 1960 and raised their children in Cupar while owning and operating the Macleods store with Al’s brother and family. Val was actively involved with the community, including the CWL. She enjoyed travelling with Al, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Al and Val moved into Regina in 2006 and for the past four years Val fought a long and courageous battle with COPD and acute renal failure, but never complained. She had a deep faith in God and this helped her through these times. We would like to thank Dr. Peter Van Rooyan, Dr. Bhanu Prasad and the wonderful staff in the Renal Dialysis Unit For their care and compassion. We would also like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Pasqua Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 2360 2nd Avenue Regina SK, S4R 1A6, the Lung Association of Saskatchewan, 1231 8th Street East, Saskatoon, SK, S7H 0S5, the Renal Unit at the Regina General Hospital or the Palliative Care Unit at the Pasqua Hospital. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Holy Child Parish, 2636 7th Avenue East, Regina, SK.
