My family lived on Montreal Street with Irene and George and their children living down the street.  I have wonderful memories of the times that I spent at their house.  Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I had the honour of working with Irene at the Seniors' Secretariat. She set such a great tone in our little band with her remarkable cheerfulness and her commitment to helping our clients. She was one of those people I might describe as 'sticky', as in one who is the glue that binds us all together.

I was thinking of Irene as I worked in the garden this morning. The pear trees and the plum tree are just beginning to bloom (the apple trees are slower) so I brought some blooms to the service. It seemed like the perfect way to remember her.

I am very greatful to have and cherish the memories of my childhood with Guy and the Laird family. Irene was for a time like a second mother to me, I am truely thankful for her guidance in those early years.

I remember her laugh and smile now as I write this. Irene and George have always welcomed me into their home and lives. Their openness has made me feel as if I was a part of the Laird family. I have learned from them and will not forget.
My condolences to George, Louise, Lynn, Burt, Guy and all the Laird and extended families. I have good memories that will live on.

Irene was an amazing lady who so cared for others.  When my father passed in December her and George were a great support to my mother.  She always had a great smile and a friendly word. To the family of Irene Laird:  My deepest sympathies at your loss.  I met Irene when we both worked for the Property Tax Rebates Program with the provincial government.  She was a lovely kind and caring person, deeply committed to her family.  I feel blessed to have known her.  Take comfort in knowing that she was a positive lifeforce in many lives.

We were saddened to learn of the passing of Irene. She was such a great person, with such a positive attitude and a love for life.
