Andrew "Andy" Joel DeMello, age 66, of Shillington, passed away on Monday July 30, 2018 in his home surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Tracy J. (Hartz) DeMello.

Born January 17, 1952 in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of the late Edward and Harriet (Parnes) DeMello. He was a US Army Reserve veteran.

Andy was employed as a printer with Standard Offset and Rieck's Printing. He also worked at Reading Hospital in the Laundry Dept. Andy last worked with the Reading Fightin' Phil's in concessions since 2015. Along with his wife, Tracy, he was a Reading Eagle Carrier for over 20 years.

Andy loved to bowl and he belonged to the Reading Church Bowling League, the Thursday Men's Social, Friday Mixed Bowl and Wednesday Colonial Mixers Bowl. He was huge NY Mets, NY Knicks, NY Jets and NY Rangers fan!

In addition to his wife Tracy, Andy is survived by five children: Jennifer (DeMello) Richards and her husband, Craig of Shillington, Matthew DeMello of Shillington, William "Billy" E. Wharton, IV of Birdsboro, Kyle S. Wharton of Wyomissing and Allyssa B. Wharton and her fiancé, Blake E. Berryman of Shillington; three grandchildren: Emma Sophia, Blake Edward and Emma Elizabeth.

Andy is predeceased by his brother, Steven A. DeMello.

A gathering for Andy will be held Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Aumans Inc., 390 W. Neversink Rd, Reiffton, PA 19606. Following the gathering will be a Celebration of Andy's Life at 7:00 PM.

Tracy, I’m so sorry for your loss. Andy was a pleasant guy to talk to at bowling and will be missed. I’m on vacation during his celebration next week so I can’t attend. Hopefully you can remember all his memories and live on with your life as if he was right there with you. Will be missed and hope to see you and Allyssa at bowling. God bless. Dave
