

Born in New York, he was a son of the late Albert A. and Edith (Bakeman) Hurd.
He was employed for many years with Sheet Metal Workers Union, Local #19, Philadelphia. He was an Army veteran serving in the 82nd Airborne. He was also a member of Zion-Spies Evangelical Reformed Church, Alsace Township.
Howard enjoyed square dancing and was known to help anyone in need. He was a loving man and especially loved the company of his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, John Hurd of Green Hills, Robert Hurd of Spring City, TN and Amy Miller of Vero Beach, FL. Also his stepchildren, Richard Baker of Newmanstown, Russell Baker of Richland, Ronald Baker of West Lawn, Jean Henry of Lancaster and Janice Cataldi of Reading.
He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Services will be held in Auman’s, Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Road, Reading (Exeter Township) on Thursday, September 29, 2017 at 12:00 pm. Friends and family may view from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
