

He was the husband of the late Dorothy M. (Auman) Turner. The couple was married on July 31, 1954 and celebrated 48 years of marriage before Dorothy passed away on December 29, 2002.
Born on January 10, 1931 in Wytheville, VA, he was a son of the late Mazie BeCraft.
Howard was a proud U.S. Army veteran that served as a medic in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired from the service after 25+ years of service to our country.
Howard was a hardworking man and along with his son, George, owned Turner's gas station from 1973 to 1976. He then owned Howard R. Turner Station from 1976 to 2002. In addition to his business, he worked for the Wyomissing School District as a custodian for 20 years.
Surviving Howard are his two sons, George W. Turner Sr. and his wife, Linda of Exeter Twp.; Colonel Richard J. Turner and his wife, Amye of SC; three grandchildren: George W. Turner Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Cumru Twp.; Emily S. and Hayden Turner of SC; one great-granddaughter, Savannah M. Turner of Cumru Twp.; two step-great-grandchildren, Brittni L. Ludy and Cody R. Shirey of Cumru Twp.; and a brother, Dave BeCraft and his wife, Trish of VA.
Also surviving are Howard's furry friends, Bear Dog and Bones.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy, and his mother, Mazie, Howard is predeceased by a brother, Jim BeCraft. Services for Howard will be on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 11 a.m. in Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Road, Reiffton. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home on Friday, from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Howard will be laid to rest next to Dorothy in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring, where Military Honor will be accorded.
