Alice Milstead Talbott passed on August 16, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on September 14, 1928, in Springfield Illinois, Alice attended Springfield High School, and subsequently the University of Illinois, where she earned a bachelor's degree in History and Philosophy. She held a teaching position at Phoenix College, before returning to the University of Illinois to obtain a Master's degree in History. Alice married her fellow graduate student in History, Robert Talbott, in 1957, and accompanied her husband of 63 years to Kearney State University and the University of Northern Iowa, where she held adjunct professorships between raising her family. Moving to the Seattle area in 2016, Alice was most recently a resident of Renton, Washington. Alice enjoyed gardening and cooking. She recently returned to a lifelong interest in painting, creating several works within the past two years. She is survived by her sister Arlene, her son Lawrence and her two grandsons, James and William.
