Alvaro Porte Alonzo
February 19, 1939 – February 11, 2018
Alvaro Alonzo or Tatang Barong to many died peacefully on February 11, 2018 at the age of 79. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a well loved and respected person in his hometown of Bantay, Ilocos Sur Philippines.
Born February 19, 1939, he was the youngest of four siblings (Bernardo, Felipe, Apolonio) by their parents Claudia Porte and Severino Alonzo.
Before he migrated to the US in 2004, him and his wife were raising their family through their jewelry business. He was the last surviving master makers of "Tambourine" jewelry in his hometown. His son inherited his skill of Tambourine making so his family is continuing the Tambourine business to ensure his legacy lives on.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Cecilia Prudencio; his daughter Cynthia and her husband Ronnie ; son Robert and his wife Rowena; son Nelson and his wife Estela; daughter Loida and her husband Rolando; son Nickson; daughter Liezl; grandchildren: Aaron, Abigael, Alva, Roslyn, Lexy, Karissa, Lance, Ian Gabriel and Lloyd.
His remains will be transported back to the Philippines where he will be reunited with his family and serve as his final resting place. May his soul rest in peace.
