Arthur (Art) Batt passed away Wednesday, March 26th in the ICU at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue WA, surrounded by close family. He was 90 years old. Art was a loving father, husband and grandfather and is deeply missed.
From a young age, Art had a remarkable sense of vision. Upon first meeting his wife Kay, he confidently told his friends “That is the woman I am going to marry!”, and he did just that. They were married for 64 years before Kay’s passing in 2023. Together they built a house of love, learning and laughter.
Art’s life journey led him to a long career with Boeing. He contributed to pioneering projects including the Saturn and AWACS programs and eventually retired from Boeing. He always spoke very highly of his employees and the good friends he made while working there. He was also on the Board of Directors for Foss Homes for many years, and served as a precinct committeeman. He played on and coached the church softball team and loved attending the games and hanging out with the team, even after wrapping up his coaching career.
Art had a great sense of humor and had a highly creative side. He enjoyed sharing stories about his life and adventures with friends and family. He also dabbled in writing plays for the church, wrote and recorded a song about his early life, appeared as an actor in advertisements for a local business and made amazing tacos.
Art is survived by his daughter, Melissa, sons Michael (Sheryl) and Eric, grandchildren Townsend and Johanna, and left a legacy of warmth, humor and love. A Remembrance of Life service/open house will be held for him between 12:30 - 2:30, Friday, June 27th at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton, WA. Please join us in remembering a life well lived.
