Betty Ann Gilbert was born Ethel Mae Betty Ann Watson on February 3, 1942, to the late George and Ethel Watson. 3 brothers and 2 sisters preceded her in death: Vernice Watson Walker, Charlie “Chuck” Watson, George Watson Jr., Lois Watson Ruffer and Connell Watson.
Betty accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, in Atoka, Tennessee.
Betty received her primary education in Tennessee and graduated in 1960 from Frazier High School in Covington, Tennessee.
In 1961 Betty united in matrimony to William Edward Brown Sr. and to this union they were blessed with 3 children William Edward Brown Jr. “Chuckie”, who preceded her in death, Debbie Ann Brown-Williams and Eric Shelton Brown.
After an unexpected death of Betty’s parents in 1970, Betty left Tennessee for Georgia with family and then relocated with family to California. While living in California, Betty united in matrimony to Isaac B. Gilbert in 1976. Shortly relocating to Washington State to be with family and making their home in Renton.
Betty obtained employment with organizations where she could use her diverse skills and training experience. She was employed by Navy Exchange as a Department Manager, Security Pacific Bank as a Clerk I, Renton School District as a Staff Assistant, Bonafide Factory Outlet as an Assistant Manager, Princess house as a Sales Consultant, Sea First National Bank as a Teller, and Hallmark as a Sales Clerk.
Betty will be remembered for her beautiful smile and kind spirit. She loved her family and was a devoted and caring mother who cared for her children and grandchildren.
Betty will be dearly missed by those she loved and those who loved her. She will always be in the hearts of her family and friends.
Betty Ann Gilbert departed this life on December 7, 2022, about 10:42 p.m. at Renton Valley Medical Center. She leaves to cherish her memories 1 son Eric Shelton Brown of Renton, WA; 1 daughter Debbie Ann Brown-Williams (Barry) of Federal Way, WA; 1 sister Bertha Watson of Chicago IL; 4 Brothers John L. Watson (Gladys) of Lansing , MI, Crestal Watson (Annie) of Oxon Hill, MD, Morris W. Watson (Samella) of Brentwood, CA, Joseph Watson Sr. (Waffa) of Escondido, CA; 2 grandsons Deshawn Williams and Devan Williams of Portland, OR and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
