

Chongai Lei was born on February 12th, 1938, and grew up in Dagang Village, Taishan, China. He obtained a 6th-grade education. On January 4th, 1970, he married Jinai Chen, and they had 3 daughters: Yufang, Qiyi and Xiuxian (Sue).
He had worked hard for most of his life.
He was a steel worker for three years in Guangzhou and a woodworker for furniture repair for five years in Xinhui.
For five years, he and his partners contracted with the village to operate the sand field.
After that venture, he signed a 25-year contract with the village to operate the fishpond and orchard with the help of his family. At harvest time, he would have additional help from his friends and neighbors.
His youngest daughter, Sue, immigrated to the United States in 2005.
Upon becoming a US citizen in 2009, Sue petitioned for her parents Chongai and Jinai to immigrate to the United States. They immigrated to the United States in June of 2010.
He and his wife attend Chinese Baptist Church since they came to the United States, until he was not physically able. He was baptized in his home on March 26th, 2023, by Steve Chung.
Being a kitchen trainee with National Asian Pacific Center, he was a kitchen helper at the Legacy House in Seattle for four years from 2011-2015.
Chongai passed away peacefully at Kin On Nursing Home on August 6th, 2025
He is survived by his wife Jinai, Younger sister Yinmei , three daughters Yufang (Weihong Lei), Qiyi(Shujun Huang) Xiuxian-Sue( Barry Woo) ; four grandchildren, Yingying- Olivia Lei, Hairun Huang, Dorothy Woo, Theodore Woo; and two nephews.
