was born on March 26, 1935, in Candon, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, to Alejandro and Clara Astudillo. He was one of nine siblings and is survived by his sister, Carmen Diño, and brother, Tomasito Astudillo.
Clemente immigrated to the United States on October 13, 1962. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Washington and enjoyed a long career as a mechanical engineer in aviation, plastics production, and design.
He met his beloved wife, Juanita Sarandi Astudillo, while performing with the University of Washington Filipino Association at Central Washington University. They married on August 3, 1968, having an everlasting love for 58 years. Clemente was a devoted husband and father to Grace Ann, Nonylon and Noel (wife Rose), and a grandfather to Gary, Shantelle, and Allysa. He also loved his “dog grandchild,” Louie, affectionately known as Mr. Boots.
Clemente enjoyed traveling to the Philippines, Hawaii, and Las Vegas. He loved family road trips, playing the harmonica, watching Sonics basketball and dancing—especially tango and Filipino folk dancing. Clemente enjoyed trips to the casino, where he always left a winner!
He was a man of faith who believed that God would take him when he was ready. He lived life with joy and was always ready to “pasyal pasyal”—to go out, have fun, and enjoy the moment.
Clemente will always be remembered for his love of family, his sense of humor, his many talents, and his joyful spirit. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
