1955 – 2025
Danilo Michael Jaksich, known simply as Dan to all who loved him, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 18, 2025, at the age of 70. A devoted husband, father, and proud “Jedo” to his grandchildren, but above all, he was someone who always showed up for the people he loved, with quiet strength and a smile that often came with a joke.
Born on February 20, 1955, in Seattle, Washington, Dan was the youngest son of Theodore and Zorka Jaksich, and grew up alongside his three older brothers—Rodney, Jeff, and Steve. He attended Rainier Beach High School, where he formed lifelong friendships that endured through the years.
Dan met Helga while working at Boeing, completely unaware that she was the boss’s daughter. Gaining her affection was one thing—earning her father’s approval was another. But Dan’s charm, warmth, and genuine heart eventually won them all over, and he became a treasured part of the family.
Dan and Helga were married on May 25, 1980, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Seattle, just days after the eruption of Mt. St. Helens. Together, they raised three children—Natasha, and “Irish twins” Nick and Nichole—and built a life full of love, laughter, and tradition. After living in West Seattle, they made their home in Renton, where Dan lived for the remainder of his life.
Dan cherished time with his family above all else. He enjoyed sci-fi movies, weekend garage sale hunts, Friday night movie marathons, and spontaneous road trips—especially to Leavenworth and other scenic corners of Washington. He was a patient teacher, showing his kids how to golf, fish, and fix up cars—lessons that came with stories, laughter, and life advice along the way.
He had a calm and steady presence, a memorable humor and a rare ability to make others feel truly seen and heard. Whether it was a thoughtful story, a quiet act of kindness, or simply sharing a cup of coffee, Dan had a gift for finding meaning in life’s everyday moments.
Dan was preceded in death by the love of his life, Helga, who passed in 2021. This year would have marked 45 years of marriage. Though parted for a time, they are now together again, side by side as they were in life.
He is survived by his children, Natasha (Joey), Nicholas, and Nichole (Danyl); two grandchildren Savannah (10) and Orin (9), and a wide circle of extended family and friends who were touched by his generosity, humor, and kindness. His legacy lives on not just in the memories of those who knew him, but in the countless lives he quietly and profoundly shaped.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 8th at 1:00 PM at Greenwood Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 350 Monroe Ave NE, Renton, WA 98056. Graveside and reception to follow.
