He was born on December 17, 1942, in Seattle, Washington. He is preceded in death by his parents Mike and Irene McKnight Madayag.
He is survived by his sons, David Madayag (Cathy) of Seattle, Brendan Madayag (Jeannette) of Port Saint Lucie, Florida and grandchildren Nicanor Madayag and Marissa Madayag.
He attended Horace Mann Elementary and was a graduate of Garfield High School. He spent over thirty years in Culinary Arts having served as a Corporate and Executive Chef in restaurants spanning from Seattle to Portland, Oregon. He served as Lead Faculty and Department Chair of the Hospitality Culinary Arts Department at the Seattle Central College. Throughout his career, he participated in numerous Culinary Arts competitions where he was named Chef of the Year by his peers at the Washington State Chef’s Association. He retired in 2005 and enjoyed gardening and planning family gatherings.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Greenwood Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Renton. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at 10:30 am at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Father Bazil to officiate. Burial to follow at 12:00 noon at Greenwood Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Brendan Madayag, Nicanor Madayag, Nick Romero, Keijiro Miyata, Gerard Suarez, Hank Dumlao, Dave Belmonte, and Scott Laigo.
Honorary Pall Bearers are David Madayag, Frank Valdez, Ricky Balogat, Ben Laigo, David Laigo, Randy Marino, Gabriel Rojas and John Balmores.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
