On Monday January 4, 2021 David J. Schwendeman passed away, he was 60 years old. He was born on March 30, 1960 and lived in Columbia City, Seattle until 1972 when his family moved to Renton where he graduated from Hazen High School. He went on to college and obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1994 and had a career spanning nearly 40 years. His career started in the aerospace industry while still in college then wanting a change after nearly 20 years, he moved into the financial industry and then onto the federal government.
David liked sports and it came naturally for him. He won several trophies and awards primarily for soccer and bowling, however he also enjoyed skiing and golf. His life’s passion was soccer and played from a young child through his early fifties. As the soccer sport and new professional leagues were expanding and being established in the US, his talent as an expert soccer player also rose to a professional level culminating in being one of two finalists competing for a position on the original Seattle Sounders Soccer League. Throughout his playing days, he traveled with the teams he was on to numerous countries including Europe to play soccer. He was a bit ahead of his time given what the Major League Soccer (MLS), the Seattle Sounders FC franchise has become including the atmosphere the fan base created resembling top pro soccer strongholds seen around the world.
David was a friendly, kind person who liked to vacation at the beach. David is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Mildred Schwendeman and is survived by his sister, brother-in-law and various cousins throughout the country.
