Dianne was born in Seattle 01-31-1951 to parents William Earl Short and Selma Sloan
Short.
In the mid fifties they move to the Spokane Valley. Dianne attended grade school and
middle school and high school at University High.
The family moved north to the Mead school district where Dianne graduated.
They moved back to the Spokane valley after her graduation, she worked some retail
Jobs at mall.
The following year Dianne ran into an old friend at a grocery store where he was working. they had known each other since the first grade in fact they had gone steady
In junior high school. He said he would stop and see her. Which he did and they were
married November 21st of 1970. This lead to two sons and buying their first home.
We must have known that home would be able to see the fireworks every night for
six months for Expo 74. Dianne's husband was in retail management. He had run two
stores in Spokane. Soon the company wanted to transfer the family to the west
side of the state which ended up in Chehalis then Bellevue, Aurora, Lynnwood. Dianne was great in being able to sell homes and move. Once settled Dianne went to work for McDonalds owner, he grew and she grew with the company.
She was with him about ten years then she left to move back to Spokane to take care of her mother
for a year. So we made many phone calls and many commutes across the state.
Dianne was very active in sports, soccer Mom and coach when know else would do it.
She was involved in Special Olympics. Business and Professional Women.
She was involved in helping start the farmers market in Des Moines. Set up a trick or Treat path in the city. Helped on the tree Lighting. She also helped her husband and the Des Moines Rotary get the Poverty BAY Wine Festival get started .Along with being a partner in the Wine shop her and her husband had for thirteen years. After retiring in 2013. The disease was starting to take a toll on her. She fought on for many years but
Lost her battle.
We had many adventures and travel when she was able. She loved many different adventures, Disney Land and Disney World. Balloon Festival in New Mexico, Reno.
Wine tasting California, Oregon, eastern Washington. Drag Racing in Sonoma, Pomona.
Dianne is survived by her husband of 54 years Michael Ric Jacobson
Her son Michael Chris Jacobson, his wife Donna.
Two grandchildren, Elliot 20 and Shawna 17.
Dianne was a shining light in all of our lives, she will be truly missed.
This has been tough for me as I have been her caregiver for many years and in
hospice care, your are their main caregiver. I have a huge respect for caregivers and for all
The people involved in hospice.
