

Dongfang Hou, known to her friends and colleagues as Lisa, was born on November 29, 1963 in Henan province, China. At approximately 8:00 pm in the evening of Friday July 31st, 2020, Dongfang suffered a myocardial infarction at her home in Seattle and passed away at the age of 56.
The first 28 years of her life were spent in the cities of Shangqiu and Zhengzhou. After obtaining a bachelor's degree in Henan Institute of Education in 1988, she was selected to work at the Institute as an English lecturer and interpreter for American teachers.
Dongfang came to the United States in early 1992 and spent the second half of her life 28 years successively living in Atlanta, Detroit and Seattle. She obtained a master's degree at Southern Polytechnic State University in 1996 and worked in a number of companies including AT&T, CheckFree, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Fiserv, LexisNexis and Boeing.
She married Kangmin Niu in Zhengzhou in 1988. Together they have two sons. Their eldest son Charles Niu was born in Atlanta in 1993, and their youngest son Calvin Niu was born in Detroit in 2005.
