Donna Marie Lombardi went home to her Lord and Savior on August 9, 2018 in Kent, WA. She was born in Bismarck, ND on December 28, 1946 to Leonard and Adeline Backman, their first child. Donna started life out on the family farm in Wilton, ND until they moved to Seattle, WA in 1949. She grew up in south Seattle, attending Dimmitt Middle School and graduated from Renton High School in 1965. During those years and after, she attended the Skyway Church of God, playing the piano for services for many years.
Donna married Robert Lombardi in 1968 and they were blessed with two sons, Douglas and Darren. They moved to Kent WA and began raising their boys there. Tragically, Donna lost her husband Robert in a car accident in 1989. Donna held several jobs serving people in her life. Before she was married she worked at Sears, later she held receptionist and secretarial positions. Donna loved to crochet and would usually bring her latest project to family gatherings. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. They loved to kid her about singing in public, being too chatty and never being shy around anyone. They loved to play pranks on her, which often happened during their many sleepovers. But in her eyes, Donna’s grandkids could do no wrong.
Survivors include her sister Cindy (Kevin) Sheely, son Darren (Michelle) Lombardi, grandchildren Brian, Emory and Ashlyn and niece Kaylen. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents and her son Douglas.
Memorials may be sent to the Crossway Church, 209 M St NE, Auburn WA 98002 .
