

Elfie Flowers was born December 18, 1928 in Penzberg, Germany to Katharina Eckert and Leonard Numberger and passed away November 9, 2011 at her home surrounded by daughters. Elfie was preceded in death by her husband (our dad) Gene Flowers December 2008. She first met Gene May 15, 1945 when he and group of soldiers took over their apartment as part of the Americans occupying Germany. From there a Love grew very strong and they were married March 22, 1949 in Germany. Elfie left Germany October 1949 and together sailed to America, she wrote that she loved seeing the Statue of Liberty. They were many more moves as Gene served for 23 years in the Army before finally settling in Tacoma (University Place). Elfie survived by 3 daughters; Katie Pingul (Ben), Shirley Pepion (Lyle) and Heidi Flowers; Grandchildren, Deena (Ken), Michael (Brenda), Marianne (Ryan) Caleena, Bernie, Alicia and Wil, Great grandchildren, Zackery, Gabbi, Kaleb, Aiden, Keegan, Zane and Miah.
A funeral service will be held Friday November 18th at 2:00PM at North End Community Church located at 3502 N Mullen st, Tacoma. With an inurnment at a later date at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent. The family wishes to extend a thank you to the Multi Care Hospice of Tacoma for their support and compassion in the care of both of our parents.
