

When he was 8 years old, his family moved to London, England. George spent the rest of his childhood in London during World War II. He immigrated to the United States in 1948. He enlisted in the Army in 1949. He served 2 terms in the military and was awarded several medals including the Bronze Star, National Defense, Korean Service and the United Nations Service Medal. During his service, he married the love of his life Dolores Jean Moran on October 16th, 1954 in Honolulu, HI. In 1956 after his service ended, they moved to Renton.
George served his community as a Renton City Councilman for 16 years. He was instrumental in several important projects which have enhanced the quality of life of the citizens of Renton. One of his crusades was the “911” telephone emergency dialing system for the Puget Sound area. He was also involved in the development of Lake Washington Beach Park, officially named “Gene Coulon Park.” He was awarded the Distinguished Service Award for his outstanding community service by the Renton Jaycees. He retired from Boeing in 1992 after working in the 777 division for 38 years.
George is survived by daughters Gigi McCormick, Deanna Sader & Sue LaFord and son Steven Perry. George had 4 grandsons, Alex & Austin LaFord and Anthony & Christopher Sader. George’s beloved wife, Dolores and his daughter Cindy preceded him in death.
The funeral service will be held at Greenwood Funeral Home in Renton on Thursday, October 14th at 10am. There will be a public viewing on Wednesday from noon until 5pm.
