

She is survived by her two sons and their wives; Thomas and Deanna and Robert and Rene, as well as six grandchildren; Benjamin Shafar, Jennifer Allen, Rachel Eells, Daniel Shafar, Brian Shafar, and Rodney Shafar, and seven great-grandchildren; Oliver Eells, Bethany Allen, Abbey Eells, Avory Shafar, Max Allen, Claire Shafar, and Vivian Shafar.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph F. Shafar, and a son William.
She graduated from Renton High School in 1940 and lived in Renton nearly all of her life.
Gertrude, most often called “Trudy,” worked for many years with Ralph at the Harvey Cole Company (a toy distribution business where they were part owners) then as a bookkeeper for Phyllis Oden, and then later in private bookkeeping practice. She was a founding member of Village Chapel in Renton and for many years was involved as a Sunday school teacher, AWANA Director, and an active supporter of missions. Trudy was also active in community service, including PTA at Spring Glen Elementary School and Nelson Middle School.
She was a member of the Renton Historical Society.
Trudy will be remembered as a woman of great faith - generous, loving, gentle & kind.
