

Gloria Bituin Turla, age 91, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026, with her loving family by her side. Gloria was a beloved wife, mother, Lola (grandmother), auntie, sister, and friend. She was a woman of unwavering Catholic faith, deeply devoted to her Church and to God. She never missed Saturday mass and faithfully said her prayers every day. Her spirituality was the foundation of her life, guiding her actions with humility, kindness, and compassion.
Gloria was born on April 18, 1934, in Pampanga, Philippines. She was the second eldest of seven children to Pablo Bituin and Maria Mariano. Gloria graduated from Philippine Normal College in Pampanga and taught elementary school for thirty years. She married the love of her life, Ben, on January 7, 1968, and they had three children, Nelson, Marissa, and Corie.
She immigrated with her family to the United States in 1977 where they settled in Seattle, Washington. She worked at United Reliance Insurance Company for twenty-two years until her retirement in 2002. Her retirement years were spent traveling to the Philippines, gardening, watching her favorite TV game shows and The Filipino Channel, following her favorite Seattle sports team the Seattle Mariners, doing crossword puzzles, playing slot machines at the casino, and most importantly spending time with her four grandchildren. Her grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life.
Gloria is survived by her loving husband of fifty-eight years, Ben Turla; son Nelson Turla (Tovee); daughters Marissa Turla and Corie Turla-Devera (Arturo); grandchildren Benjamin Devera, Estella Turla, Jacob Turla, and Talissa Devera; sister Purisima Bituin Gozum of Seattle; sister-in-law Irene Angeles Bituin of Pampanga Philippines; and numerous nephews and nieces in Washington and California. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pablo and Maria, and siblings Marcelo, Honorio, Lourdes, Zenaida, and Amelia.
A vigil will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton. The Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church in Seattle. Burial will follow Mass at Calvary Cemetery in Seattle, Washington.
