

Joe Louis Roberson was born on October 30, 1938 to the union of Willie James and Ruby Bell Roberson in Louisville, Mississippi. The family later relocated to Galesburg, Illinois in 1950, where Joe attended and graduated from Churchill Junior High and Galesburg High School in 1956. Joe then enlisted into the United States Air Force, and did his basic training in San Antonio, Texas. From there he was assigned to Larson Air force Base in Moses Lake, Washington where he met the love of his life Joan Redmond. They were married in 1961, and welcomed their daughter Lynda in 1962. Shortly thereafter, Joe and Joan then helped to raise his four younger brothers in Seattle.
Joe was employed and retired from The Bon Marche Department Store, where he worked for 41 years of which he was highly recognize for his hard work and contributions to the company.
Joe enjoyed watching sports and any political program, as well as, being a horse racing enthusiast.
Joe transitioned on July 5, 2026 and was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Ruby, as well as, sister Willie Ruth and brothers Cornelius, Otis, George and James. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Joan, and daughter Lynda, two remaining sisters and a host of nieces and nephews.
