

John V. (Jack) Ahearn, Jr. passed away on July 25, 2016 at Wesley Home Health Center, Des Moines, WA. Born February 7, 1923 in Bremerton, WA to John V. Ahearn and Goldie Hart Ahearn. Graduated from UW School of Engineering. Worked at Bremerton Shipyards and Ahearn Electric before going into Navy during WWII. After the war, John married Ileane Thomas. They lived in West Seattle until her death in 1981. Jack retired from Boeing as a Systems Engineer after working in the Space Program for 32 years. After retirement, Jack took up woodcarving and won many ribbons for his beautiful bird and fish carvings.
Jack is survived by his wife of 32 years, the former Marilyn Huffaker, his three daughters: Kathleen Gapasin, Cynthia Herberg and Diane Pinon; three step children: “David Christ, Linda Reece and Mark Hinds, 13 grandchildren and 5 great grands. A memorial service will be held on August 7th at 3 PM at Highlands Community Church, 3031 10th St., Renton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Vision House, P.O.
