Leonard was born October 4, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio, one of 8 children to George and Mary Minardo. He passed away January 30, 2015, in Renton, Washington. After graduating from Collinwood High School, he and his brothers ran a family plastering business. After a year, Leonard was drafted and served 2 years in the Army. While stationed at Fort Lawton in Seattle, Washington, he met and married Betty (Moretto). They had two children, Cynthia and Daniel, three grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael (Arianna) and Stephanie and two great-grandchildren, Ian and Kaiya. He is also survived by brothers Anthony and Joseph and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents George and Mary, brother's Mike, Sam, twins Angelo and Joey and sister Carmela. Leonard worked many years at his father-in-law's business, Gavosto and Moretto Sausage Factory as a salesman/driver. Because of his love of sports he had the opportunity to coach his son Dan and other young boys in baseball and basketball for many years and even coached his grandson Michael and friends in basketball. Leonard enjoyed traveling, dancing, gambling on horses and trips to Las Vegas. His biggest passion of all was the love and pride he felt for his family. He could find enjoyment just listening to the laughter in his home when all of us would get together. He was a generous man enjoying friendships and the chance to meet and talk to new people. Family and friends are invited to a gathering for a Celebration of Life on Sunday, February 15th at 1:00pm in the Magnolia-Maple Room at the River Rock Grill at Maplewood Greens, 4050 Maple Valley Hwy, Renton. In lieu of flowers, we suggest memorials to the American Diabetes Association or charity of your choice. Our family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Issaquah Nursing Center for their love and compassionate care for Leonard in the final months of his life.
