She began her life in Vermont, Illinois, then moved with the family to Ladysmith, Wisconsin. As a young girl, the family then moved to Renton, Washington. She graduated from Renton High School, her daughter, Bonnie Wilson and granddaughter, Wendy Wilson also graduated from there.
As a young woman, she met the love of her life, William Bergman, while she was hosting at the USO and he was in the Army. They married and had three children; Billy, who died in infancy, but was treasured always, Bonnie (Wilson), who drowned in 1990, and her sole surviving son, Robert of Mountlake Terrace.
Peggy devoted most of her adult life to her family and making a good home for them. She cooked, cleaned and gardened with the best of them.
After Bill passed, she moved north to live with her son, Robert, and his wife Janet. She had her own apartment in their home and rode herd on the multiple pets in the house. She was always an animal lover, particularly her cats. She was a joy to be around.
As her health started to fail, and she was needing more care, she moved first to an assisted living facility, then an adult family home then last year to the nursing and rehab facility in Lake City, where Bob worked.
Peggy was a kind and gentle soul, greatly loved by her family and those who cared for her. She is survived by Bob and Janet Bergman of Mountlake Terrace, Jerry and Eunice Montgomery, brother and sister in law of Renton; Margaret Hazel, sister of Scott Mills, Oregon; granddaughters Wendy Wilson of Tacoma and Karin Shierk (Rodney) and great grandson, Riley Shierk of Shoreline.
We all will deeply miss Peggy and will carry her in our hearts forever. We know there are many loved ones waiting for her on the other side and she will be at peace. May God bless them all.
Arrangements under the direction of Greenwood Funeral Home, Renton, WA.
