

Lois Marie Matthai was born on January 25, 1927 in Taylor Washington and passed away peacefully Friday, April 20, 2012 in Bellevue, Washington. Daughter of Mary and Louis Donckers she graduated from Tahoma High School in Maple Valley Washington in 1945. She and her high school sweetheart, Donald Dieckman, were married in June of 1946 and lived at and operated Lake Wilderness Resort with his brother Jett and his wife Lilly until 1950. After Donald’s death in 1952, Lois moved to Renton where she raised her family and worked in the retail business. She was a member of St. Anthony Parish, enjoyed gardening, playing “BINGO”, nannying her grandchildren and playing “Bunko” with the gals. Lois and Roger were also members of the Renton Eagles where they could be found on Saturday nights on the dance floor and also traveling with close group of friends in the Eagles Travel Club.
She was preceded in death by brothers Con and Hank DeGroote, Emmitt, Charles and Roy Donckers, sisters Rose Hurley, Julia Matilla and Dorothy Moores. Survived by her husband Roger of 33 years, brother Louie Donckers of Renton and five children, Judy Lund (Terry), Sharon Badure, Al Dieckman (Michelle) Terri Capellaro (Larry) and Patti Lowe (Mike). Seven grandchildren, Jason, Eric, Brad, Kevin, Krista, Kyle and Aaron. Nine great-grandchildren, Colby, Rylie, Sydney, Tyler, Taylor, Dylan, Landen, Piper and Lincoln.
Lois will be missed by everyone whose life she touched. On Thursday, April 26, Viewing from 2-7, Rosary at 7:00, Greenwood Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, April 27, 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Renton, Washington. The family asked in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Renton Fire Department or to your favorite charity.
