Lorease Kendrick was born April 6, 1946, in Littlerock, Arkansas to Luther and Vergilee (Doll) Pankey. She was a graduate of Garfield High School in 1964. Lorease went on to continue her education and graduated from Seattle University. Lorease’s career began at the Boeing Company. She later had a notable career in the Human Resources field for Seafirst Bank, Group Health and University of Washington where she retired.
She was baptized and added to the body of Christ at Southside Church of Christ in the early eighties. She was taught by minister Bro. Charles Webb and baptized by Bro. Clifford Tolbert. Lorease was a faithful member of Southside Church of Christ, serving on various committees over the years including the Women’s Leadership Advisory committee. She enjoyed attending the Women Lectureships in various cities. She loved the Lord and enjoyed studying the Word, especially in her Tuesday morning bible class taught by Bro. Nate Whitlock and the late Bro. Herman Snoddy.
Lorease traveled extensively with her husband and other family and friends. Over the years she enjoyed reading, walking and attending yoga classes. She especially enjoyed taking walks on the Cedar River Trail with her daughter and her great-granddaughters.
The holidays were her favorite time of the year. Lorease enjoyed spending quality time with her family, hosting holiday dinners and enjoying the company of friends and loved ones. Her greatest joy was spending quality time with her grandchildren; Eileen, Shomari, Aijoua and her great-granddaughters, Aaliyah and Aleesha - all were the loves of her life.
Lorease was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thurman Alvin Kendrick of 50 years, her parents Luther and Vergilee (Doll) Pankey; two brothers Sam Burks and John Burks; four sisters Juanita Jackson, Bernice Gosby, Geraldine Arnett and her twin-sister Florease Thompson.
Lorease leaves to cherish her memories to her loving daughters, Deirdre and son-in-law Bruce Mitchell; Sherrell (Lawrence) Bigham, and Debra Kendrick; two brothers Franzell (Vivian) Pankey, Ohnkenyatta (Eloise) Pankey; grandchildren Eileen, Shomari and Aijoua and great-grandchildren Shomar, Aaliyah, Aleesha and Ryder; and her sister by God, Carolyn Tolbert, and many other relatives, dear friends and church family.
