Maurice Francis Fitzgerald

Maurice Francis Fitzgerald, 85, of Renton, Washington, died Saturday, 22 January 2022. Born on Tuesday, 30 June 1936, in Islip, New York, he was the son of the late Maurice Joseph Fitzgerald formerly of Caherlevoy, Limerick, and Long Island, and the late Mary Bridget (Geary) Connolly formerly of Carna, Galway, and Ronkonkoma, New York.

Maurice proudly served in the US Navy from 1954 through 1958. An avid golfer, in his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his golf buddies on the links. One of the greatest joys in his later years was engaging in conversation with his first great-granddaughter. The room would light up when she would come in to briefly chat with him and give him updates about her school day.

He is survived by four daughters, Terry Fitzgerald, Geraldine Garl and husband Terrance, Deborah Colman, and fiancé Rodney Kirby, and Laura Danielson and husband Todd; one brother, James Connolly and wife Margaret; eight grandchildren, Caitlin (Garl) Tin and husband King, Rachel (Colman) Cooper and husband Evan, Steven Colman and fiancé Dani Emery, Avery Hoge, Erica Garl, Julia Hoge, Brandon Danielson and wife Jessica, and Brittany Danielson Marshall and husband Garrett; four great-grandchildren, Kacey Ann, Brayden, Jace, and Reece.

In 2013, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Ann (Fennell) Fitzgerald. Maurice was also preceded in death by two brothers, John of Renton, Washington (1987), and Timothy of Ronkonkoma, New York (2009).

A memorial service with military honors will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery on March 4th at 9:30 am, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Stephen The Martyr Roman Catholic Church in Renton, WA at 11:00 am. In July 2022, Maurice will be laid to rest in Kilrush, Clare, Ireland with his beloved wife.
