Nancy Dosch

Born May 8, 1954, Aberdeen, South Dakota.

Died January 21, 2025, Renton, Washington.

Nancy lived in Aberdeen from birth through college. After elementary school, she went to Simmons Junior High and Central High School, graduating in 1969 and 1972. Childhood activities included piano, violin, 4H, baking, and, for a short time, being one of the Aberdeen’s few paper girls!

After high school, Nancy went to Northern State University in Aberdeen, graduating with a BS in music education in 1976. As she was a year older and in orchestra, while Mike was in band, Nancy and Mike didn’t know each other during high school and most of college. Nancy and Mike had their first date on March 26, 1976, in four days, 49 years ago.

Nancy taught 2 years in a small town (Dawson, Minnesota), while Mike finished his last year at Northern and first year of grad school at Georgia Tech. Nancy and Mike were married on August 12, 1978 and lived in Georgia Tech married student housing for one year; Nancy teaching orchestra in Atlanta. They came out to Seattle in 1979 via Mike getting a job at Boeing.

Nancy taught orchestra in the Renton School District from 1979 – 86, left to become a stay-at- home Mom from 1986 - 1994, then returned to the RSD, teaching orchestra from 1994 until her retirement in 2012. Nancy was very involved in music at Renton’s United Methodist Church, being a piano accompanist (mostly for the angel (children’s) choir), playing piano for services as a sub for the organist, and leading the small orchestra during choir / orchestra Christmas and Easter programs.

Nancy is survived by her husband Mike, son Matthew (daughter in law Ashlee), son Brian (daughter in law Amanda and grandson Jack), son Kevin, and brothers Paul and Rich.
