

Norma “Nona” P. Nirk, age 95, longtime resident of Renton and most recently of Kent, died on Sept. 25, 2011. Norma was the beloved wife of the late John; cherished mother of Bill (Carolyn), and late sons, Brian and Michael; dear sister to Eleanor (Bill); loving grandmother to Tim, Todd (Marisa), Kim (John), and Angela (Jim); adored great-grandmother to Nicholas, Nathan, Maiya, Lucas, and Lacey; dear aunt and great aunt to many; and a special friend to countless more. Norma was born in Burnett, WA in 1916 to Italian immigrants, John & Annetta Rosa. She grew up in South Prairie and attended Renton High School, graduating in 1934. She married John in 1937 and they settled in Renton. Norma was a longtime employee of Puget Power before retiring in 1982. After retirement, she spent her time doting on her family, traveling, reading, and loyally following the Sonics and Mariners. Visitation will be Thurs., 9/29, noon to 5:00pm at Greenwood Funeral Home 350 Monroe Ave Ne, Renton with funeral service to be held at 11am Friday, Sept. 30, at Holy Spirit Parish, 304 Third Ave. S., Kent. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Catholic Community Services of Western WA.
