

Patricia Irene Dvorak was born in Yale, IA on February 12th, 1936 to Carl and Irma Dvorak. The following year, the family moved to Yakima, WA. She graduated from Yakima High School in 1955 and soon after, met future husband John Karaim on a blind date where they went to the “Spanish Castle” dance. John & Pat were married on June 2, 1956 and soon after, moved to the Seattle area.
Pat worked for Rhodes department store as a beautician until the birth of their first child, Michael. Eight years later she gave birth to their 2nd son, Mark. Pat worked for several salons as a beautician until 1988, when she opened up her own hair salon, ”The Hair Biz”. She operated the salon until her retirement in 1995.
During retirement, Pat and John loved to travel in their motorhome all over the United States, and drove the AlCan Hwy to Alaska twice. Pat most enjoyed spending time with her family, and adored her family traditions, especially the yearly mushroom hunt at Clear Lake near White Pass, and making her famous Hoska bread. Pat enjoyed her many hobbies as well, among them playing cards with friends and family, knitting, and dancing. She loved her family and always made sure they knew.
Patricia is preceded in death by her son, Michael Karaim. She is survived by her husband John Karaim, son Mark (Angela) Karaim, grandchildren Zoe Barajas, Drew, Ethan, and Emma Karaim, great-granddaughter Jocelyn Barajas, and brother Duane (Betty) Dvorak.
A memorial service for Patricia will be held at 12:00pm at Greenwood Memorial on April 14, 2022. Interment will immediately follow the service at Tahoma National Cemetery
