Patricia Maureen Murphy

Patricia Murphy, known to most as Pat, will be greatly missed. The relationships she held true to her heart were intentional and authentic. Throughout the course of her life, she made a difference in so many lives. We will always keep you in our hearts.

The following words are from her son.

I was aware of being adopted as early as I can remember. My mom always said, "Most babies grow UNDER their mommy's heart; YOU grew IN my heart until you could come home to us." I grew up in a loving family, as the son of an army officer. It was a disciplined existence, however, I got to see some amazing things as a child. With rare occasion, I would wonder about my biological family, however, those times were few and far between. About a week after my 30th birthday, I received "the letter"; indicating a court investigator was searching for a boy given up for adoption, and, "that search has led me to you", it stated. I really struggled with the letter, as I felt like it would be betraying my adopted family; especially my mom. About 1 year to the week later, I was finally compelled to reach out to the mother who was in search of her son. Bio-Mom, as I referred to her, was a lovely person. She was thrilled that I agreed to reach out. Statistically, the likelihood was minimal that I would. She told me right away that she didn’t want or need anything from me. Every September, my birth month, she would wonder where I was and what I might be doing. She simply needed to know that I turned out OK. Anything beyond that was a blessing, she said. I am so thankful that I reached out and connected with my extended biological family. It was incredible to meet the family I never knew I had. Grammie Pat was kind, considerate and loving to me and my family. She always took the time to remember my kids on their birthdays and Christmas. I enjoyed the times we were able to meet and visit, and the conversations we had. I am thankful and blessed that I was able to meet her and have her as part of my life. She was loved and will be missed.
