Robert was born to William A. Stoutenberg and Mae L. Stoutenberg (Liebrich). He was raised in South Seattle and graduated from Foster High School in 1956. After graduating high school, Dad enlisted in the US Army to serve his mandatory two-year requirement.
Prior to getting out of the army, Mom and Dad eloped and moved to Belton, Texas which is near Fort Hood, Texas. Twenty months later, Dad got his discharge papers from the US Army, so Dad, Mom, and Robb moved to Seattle, completing the family.

A few years later Dad decided to hang up his coaching and president shoes. Mom and Dad decide to buy a motorhome to do some traveling, go to Seahawks games, and take a cruise once in a while. Next thing you know, Brian jumps into the picture.
A few years go by and Dad is back at is again coaching and then, once again, becoming President.
In 1968, Dad became a member of the Plumbers and Pipe-fitters Local # 32. He was a proud member! He served on the executive board a couple of times. he was picked to be a shop steward on various job sites. And, he was elected to be a delegate to several conventions.
