

Roger was born on December 7, 1940, in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, Philippines. While supporting himself through college, Roger worked at International Harvester Co. of the Philippines (IH), balancing his job and studies in Manila. Roger dedicated 19 years to IH, ultimately rising to the position of Chief Accountant.
Roger earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of the East in Manila in 1963. The following year, he successfully passed the Board Exam and became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). For 3 years, Roger served as an adviser for the Junior Achievements of the Philippines Inc. (JAPI), where he played a key role in mentoring young individuals to become future leaders in the business industry.
In the 1970s, Roger joined the Church of Christ and married Dorie Ramos Guiang, a Doctor of Optometry working in Manila. Together, they welcomed their first child, Rhodora, followed by Robela and Roger Jr.
During the 1980s, Roger worked as the Chief Credit Manager at the Manila Mandarin Hotel for five years. In 1984, he and his family immigrated to the United States with a professional immigrant visa, settling in San Jose, California. There, Roger and Dorie became active members of the Church of Christ, serving as deacon and deaconess in the San Jose Congregation, where he later became an Area Leader.
After their children married, Roger and Dorie retired early, returned to the Philippines, and settled in Eastwood, Quezon City. They continued their work in the Church as deacon and deaconess in the Local of Ugong, Metro Manila, Central, strengthening the faith of the brethren by volunteering in livelihood programs and medical missions. After a decade, they returned to the Bay Area, continuing service as deacon and deaconess in the San Jose Congregation. They eventually moved to Kent, Washington, to be with their children, Rhodora and Adam.
Roger passed away in the presence of his wife, Dorie, on Monday, November 10, 2025. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his love for great food, his zest for life, and his indomitable faith. He is survived by his wife, Dorie, and his children and grandchildren, Rhodora & Adam, Robela & Sonny, Roger Jr. & Ella, and his beloved grandchildren Alessandra & Jewel.
