Rose Ann is survived by her children, Robert Lee King Jr. his wife Sara and step-daughter Shanthal, of Kent, WA and Steven King his wife Wendy and their sons Josh and Jake King of Yakima, WA, and is preceded in death by her husband Robert Lee King Sr., father William Lawrence Schlichter, mother Marjorie (Porter) Schlichter, sister Sonya (Schlichter) Davis and brother William Lawrence Schlichter Jr.
Rose Ann was born on October 18th, 1938 in Burlington, Kansas to William and Marjorie Schlichter. She graduated from Wichita-East High School in 1956. Rose Ann married Robert Lee King on Nov. 30th, 1957. They made their home in Kent, WA raising their sons Robert and Steven. Rose Ann was a valued PTA member, Kent School Board advocate and volunteered much of her time as a school nurse at Sequoia Jr. High. Bob and Rose Ann were married for 41 years.
Rose Ann had an impact on so many young students and athletes. Known as ‘Mama King’ to many, all were treated like family and shown love and guidance. Seen at many school sporting events, she cheered on all ‘her’ kids. After her sons had long graduated from school, Rose Ann volunteered at the Kent City Library, chairing the “Friends of the Library” club.
Rose Ann was generous, compassionate, and fiercely loyal. Rose Ann cherished family above all else. Watching her grandsons playing football and baseball was one of the highlights of her later years.
A funeral is scheduled for November 10th, 1:00 P.M. at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton, WA. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Rose Ann's life. As Rose Ann so loved football and children, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in her name be made to SOZO Sports of Central Washington, Youth Football Park.
