Shirley Dolstad was born on Christmas Day 1934 and passed away on October 23rd, 2023. She was an amazing wife, mother, sister, grandma, great grandma, great, great grandma, and friend to all. Of all the great things in her life she was most proud of her family.
Shirley had three children, Deborah, Jeffrey, and Darlene. She had 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren. She was such a caring and giving person. In 1978, without hesitation, she donated one of her kidneys to her brother, David. He was diabetic and receiving her kidney gave him 10 more great years of life.
She enjoyed many things in her life: music, dancing, painting, sunshine, golfing, shopping. She adored poodles. She raised them, bred them, showed them, and groomed them. She owned Dolstad’s Poodle Pad for 9 years. She even owned a thriving grooming and pet shop. Shirley and Harold enjoyed boating on their 18ft drag boat. Their favorite place to take the boat was Banks Lake with family and friends. They would set up camp for a week and would boat every day. Shirley was a sun worshipper. She loved the warm weather and enjoyed being a snowbird. They owned a park model in Rio Casa Blanca and would go for six months of the year for 30 years.
She enjoyed driving around in the golf cart and saying hi to all the neighbors, having margaritas with friends on the deck, wading in the pool and hot tub, and watching the golfers from her park model. She always said she had the best lot in the whole park because of the corner lot and view of the beautiful fountain and golf course. She loved jewelry, beautiful clothing, shopping, going to lunch, talking on the phone, and laughing. She had an amazing laugh.
The last couple of years were rough for her. She fell and broke her shoulder and femur in 2021 and never fully healed. She was a trooper and always kept a positive outlook. She loved her life and made sure we knew it before she left. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Until we meet again………….
