Stuart is survived by his mother, Diann Bennett; 2 brothers and 4 sisters (Liane and Greg Hammer, Dr Harold and Gaylene Bennett, Drs Susan and Dayton Wilde, Karen and David Higginbotham, Drs Darren and Lisa Bennett, and Tricia Bennett); numerous nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews; many cousins; and his Aunt Martha McDysan and Uncle George Bennett. He was preceded in death by his father, H.F. Bennett DVM and his grandparents.
Stuart was born on May 1, 1966 in Petersburg, IL to Diann Bennett and Dr. H.F. Bennett. He graduated from Porta Community High School in 1984. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in Liberal Arts. Following that, he had further training in Georgia in hotel and restaurant management; he used these skills for a few years as a manager at a steak restaurant and for many years delighting friends and family with his cooking and grilling. As he worked in industries involved in fiber-optic cables and other construction, he lived in California, Texas, Colorado, Georgia and finally made his home in Renton where he could be seen daily being pulled up the hills by a leash attached to a huge Labrador. In Renton, he worked with pride for Infrasource Construction as General Manager/Assistant Controller.
Despite traveling for work, he was always happy to join friends, often for a golfing trip, even overseas. He would join his brothers and nephew on the slimmest pretext to go to Austin for a music festival, practically anywhere for sporting events, or golfing. His cousin and he took their mothers on a trip to Hawaii where they took the island by storm on scooters. He was always happy to visit his sisters and families at his second “home” in Georgia where his infectious laughter would be heard often, and the grill would be cooking wonderful meats. Uncle Stu was a prime favorite of all his nieces and nephews of all ages and was looking forward to visits from several this summer; his humor and sage advice will be missed by all of us.
A Celebration of Life in Renton will be 3-5p on Saturday, August 20 at Whistle Stop.
