Sue was born to Harry and Hazel Penson and raised in Seattle with her siblings Connie and Duane. She graduated from Roosevelt High School. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Hazel Penson, husbands Larry Alfano and Ernie Campbell, Sister Connie Nelson, and son Tony Alfano. Sue is survived by sons Russ Alfano and Eric Goulter as well as her five grandchildren, Chelsea and Russell Alfano and Nick, Hal and Joshua Goulter.
Sue began her working career in the National Parks, spending time both at north rim of the Grand Canyon and Yosemite National Park. After returning to Seattle, she worked at Sperry Marine until the late 90’s. Sue changed the course of her career in 1999, as she began working for the TED program for the State of Washington delivering specialized phones to people with hearing loss.
Sue loved helping people in this way and enjoyed this job up until the very last weeks of her life. Sue was also very active in her community serving as a leader within the Renton Lions club for nearly 20 years. She also made great strides as advocate and leader in the Hearing Loss Association of America and served along with her neighbors in her local Garden Club. She had a passion for adventure and has traveled all around the world including China, Egypt, the Panama Canal, Japan, a train ride on the Orient Express and just this past December she and her cousin took a trip to Brazil and the Amazon River.
Suellen was a beloved by her family, friends and community. She will be deeply missed.
