Ted grew up on the family farm in Fallon, Nevada until 1950 when he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. Ted served as a Sargent and toured in Korea until he was honorably discharged, in 1954. After leaving the service Ted returned to California to complete his education.
While working in California, at Aero Jet General, Ted met Donna Secrest. On April 11, 1964 Ted and Donna were married. Ted lovingly referred to their anniversary date as “double April fool’s day.”
In the early 1960s, Ted was offered a job in Seattle, Washington working as a contracted engineer for The Boeing Company. Ted, Donna and their two sons, David and Donald settled in Renton, Washington, where Ted lived for the remainder of his life.
In 1974, Ted opened his own custom fabrication business in Issaquah, Washington. For the next twenty years, he successfully ran General Fabrication and Design. Ted retired in 1994 and dedicated his free time to pursuing hobbies and spending quality time with his family.
Throughout his life, Ted enjoyed many hobbies. He played the banjo, enjoyed river rafting and was an excellent hunter and fisherman. In 1986, Ted harvested a mountain goat, winning first place in the Washington Big Horn Show and placing fourth in the Boone & Crocket.
Ted’s rafting adventures took him down many rivers in the Northwest, including the Salmon River in Idaho, the Deschutes River in Oregon and through Hells Canyon on the Snake River.
Together, Ted and Donna enjoyed shooting sporting clays. This hobby connected them with many wonderful friends and allowed them to travel to many state and regional shooting events.
Ted was known for his storytelling, mischievous sense of humor, exceptional work ethic and great heart.
