In Loving Memory of My Daddy
“Gone Fishing with the Father”
We rose before the sunrise, just you and me, side by side.
The world is still quiet, the water still, you taught me patience, strength, and will.
You didn’t give answers – you let me find, my own way forward, my own peace of mind.
When I’d ask how, you’d smile and say, figure it out, you’ll learn your way.
And oh, that pluck – your gentle scold, a daddy’s love wrapped in lessons told.
Firm but kind, always true, every pluck said, “I love you.”
Now your fishing pole rests, your work is done, your battles fought, your race well run.
Heaven’s waters shimmer bright, and you’ve gone fishing in the light.
I’ll carry your laughter, your wisdom, your voice, the memories you left will keep me strong.
Though my heart aches, I know it’s true, you’ve just gone fishing and one day, I’ll meet you too.
