

Wally Wiemann was born July 13, 1923 in La Moure North Dakota and passed away from natural causes on July 15, 2019 at the age of 96. Wally grew up on a farm in La Moure North Dakota and graduated from La Moure High School in 1943. After graduation he and his two brothers, Bernie and Fred, with their mother Lena moved to Miles City Montana. There he took a correspondence course to become a typesetter for the Miles City Star Newspaper. While working there he met & married Gladys in 1947. Linda & Gary were born in Miles City and in 1957 Wally moved his family to Renton. He worked for the Bellevue American Newspaper and then the Seattle Shopping News. In 1975, along with two other partners, they formed Western Type Printing Co. Wally worked there until he retired in 1985. Wally enjoyed bowling on a league with his brother for over 50 years. He liked freshwater fishing, but he was most proud of the King salmon he caught at Westport WA. He was an avid sports fan of the Seahawks, Mariners, Huskies and Cougars. Wally & Gladys enjoyed their travels to Japan, Mexico, Hawaii and their cruises to Alaska and the Panama Canal. Wally was a member of the Renton United First Methodist Church. He was also a 61-year member of the Elks Club. When he & Gladys purchased a motorhome, they joined the Burien Elks Jet A-bouts Travel Club. As Snowbirds, they traveled with several wonderful friends to Arizona.
Wally is preceded in death by his wife, Gladys in 2008. He is survived by his children Linda (Bruce) Smith of Duvall and Gary (Sheila) Wiemann of Kent, grandchildren Tommy Wiemann, Sean Smith, Travis Smith, Michael Smith, great-granddaughter Katelynn Smith, brothers Bernie and Fred Wiemann.
