Walter Jones Wilson was born to Walter and Helen Wilson on December 18, 1933, in Austin, TX. After moving to Seattle, WA., he was raised by his mother and Ed "Big Daddy" Johnson. Walter attended Horace Mann Elementary School and later graduated from Renton High School in 1952. He received a BA in Education at Central Washington University in 1956, then enlisted and served in the U.S. Army for 2 years.
While serving in the military in St. Louis, MO, Walter married Maxine Haynes. He later married Peggy Young in Seattle, WA. In 1985, Walter married his current wife, Gwendolyn Wilson, and resided in Bellevue, WA.
Walter worked for Seattle School District for 40 years, retiring in the year 2000. He enjoyed entertaining family and friends; was an avid track and marathon runner; he modeled clothes and enjoyed dressing up and sporting his cars. Walter also enjoyed cooking, dancing, and listening to music. His favorite phrase was "talk is easy, doing is hard."
Preceding him death were his parents, grandparents, and brother, Edward Johnson.
Walter leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife Gwendolyn, ex-wife Maxine Haynes, and ex-wife Peggy Young; children Zena (Russell) Kirkwood, Joyce Neil, Tonya (Sterling) Woodson, La'Monye Wilson, Angela Caver, Eric (Priscilla) Wilson, Desmond (Monica) Petty, Pier Petty, and LaGhea Richard; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
