John W. Tangas

John W. Tangas, age 89, died, Sunday, February 2, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 19, 1924 to Leonides and Wilma (Szilagyi) Tangas in Chicago, Illinois. John enlisted in to the United States Army at the age of 18; he was a Master Sargent of the 82nd Airborne Infantry. He worked at GEO International in Texas and Pukall Lumber in Woodruff as a chemical engineer at both. John married Lois on April 5, 1988. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time.

John is survived by his loving wife, Lois, his children; Michael (Vicki), Alicia Wilson, Celeste (David) Dunn and Andrea (John) Beachey, his step children; Ray (Heidi) LaHaie, Lynette (Roger) Sanday and Roxanne (Jeff Jadike) Imrick, 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Constantine and his first wife, Joan in 1983.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 11:30am at Nativity of Our Lord Church ~ St. Mary’s with Father Tom Thakadipuram officiating with Military Honors following the service. Visitation will be from 9:30am until the time of service at the church. A memorial has been established in John’s name and may be directed to the family.
