Margaret Patricia (Kilduff) Steinmetz, age 85 of Rhinelander, has made heaven a little brighter now that she has entered into eternal life on Saturday, September 3, 2011. She was born on February 27, 1926 the daughter of William and Julia (Gallagher) Kilduff. She attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1944. She studied at Superior State Teachers College, but left school to work at the Treasury department in Chicago. She returned to Rhinelander in 1947 to care for her mother, working for the Oneida County Register of Deeds office. In 1957 she met the love of her life Robert Peter Steinmetz and they were married in Pine, MN on December 16, 1958. Margaret was a life long member of St Mary’s Catholic Church as was proud of her faith and family. Margaret was extremely proud of her Irish heritage. While being a homemaker she was very involved with the Alter Society of St Kunegunda’s and the Sugar Camp community club. Some of her enjoyments in life were spending time with family and social get together’s, listening to classical music and reading. They settled in Sugar Camp to raise their two children, Julie Steinmetz (Karie Wix) of Rhinelander and Robert Steinmetz (Sheryl Astles) of Naples, FL. Margaret also took to heart the role of raising Robert’s two older children, Terry Steinmetz of Columbus, OH and James (Jessica) Steinmetz of Ft. Myers, FL whom she loved as her own.. She is further survived by her grandchildren; Tammy, Melissa, Kim, Tanya, Brian, Kelly, Jessie, Kendall, James II, Matthew, Jared, Jacob and Katrina; great-grandchildren; Keith, Kristen, Tawanna, Matthew, Faith, Brandon, Tyler, Kaylee, Zach, Samantha, and Eli; great-great grandchildren; Jayden and Waylon and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, sisters Catherine and Mary, an infant son and granddaughter Shelly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 1:00 P.M. with Father John Gerritts officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services. Inurnment will be on Friday, September 9, 2011 at 9:00 A.M. at St Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
