Adolfo “Rudy” Zamora Ramirez, Jr., of Dallas, passed away on July 13, 2021 at the age of 76 after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. He was surrounded by his 5 children, who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. The only wish Rudy had was to have his children by his side at the end his hard-fought battle. He was born on November 23, 1944, in Pearsall, Texas, to the late Adolfo Garcia Ramirez, Sr. & Donata Zamora Ramirez. Rudy lived most of his life in the Dallas area. He was a ranch hand for many years and then worked as a handyman, and was able to fix anything.
Rudy adored his children and grandchildren and spending time with them, but when he was ready to leave somewhere, you’d better believe he was ready to go! This “eat and run” pattern continued to be the family joke for many years, as many times Rudy would arrive somewhere, make his plate, and dart out to go home and eat it. He had a dry sense of humor and brought so much laughter to his family over the years. Rudy had a love for cats, but his true love was for horses. He could be found every Sunday at Lonestar Park attending the races or viewing the race on the monitors. This brought him so much joy to be able to go to the races. Rudy had a passion for reading and would read a book of 700 pages in a day. Rudy was still “old school” as he enjoyed reading the Dallas Morning News and working the crossword puzzles. Rudy also enjoyed playing Dominoes during his downtime.
In addition to his parents, Rudy was preceded in death by his grandson, Luis Flores; and sisters, Florence Saldana and Anastacia Martinez. He is survived by his five children, Thomas (Tracie) Ramirez of Terrell, Rosa Ramirez of Dallas, Ronnie (Dahlia) Ramirez of Carrollton, Linda Lopez of Fort Worth, and Jesse Aporta of Dallas; 20 grandchildren, Thomas Vasquez of Richardson, Melissa Vasquez of Richardson, Nick Gallegos (Carolina) of Dallas, Ilan (Kassandra) Gallegos of Terrell, Leo (Nina) Gallegos of Royce City, Tommy Tobar of Terrell, Halie Hall (Chase) of Euless, Alma (Albert) Galvan of San Antonio, Ronnie Ramirez of Rice, Amanda (Ernesto) Perez of Prosper, Veronica (Taylor) Rae of Dallas, RJ Ramirez of Carrollton, Aron (Maria) Ramirez of Dallas, Tiffany (Javier) Montes of Fort Worth, Michael Allen of Fort Worth, Joe Lopez of Fort Worth, Mercedes Chavez of Fort Worth, Marissa Chavez of Fort Worth, Marcos Menchaca of Fort Worth, and Malachi Aporta of Dallas; 26 great-grandchildren, Jayna, Robert, Thomas, Michael, Cresencia, Joi, Luis Jr., Marcus, Miranda, AJ, Abriella, Tommy Lee, Leland, Brayden, Xander, Liam, Alexia, Madison, Colton, Bella, Jacob, Leah, Aaliyah, Cataleya, Javier Jr.; and siblings, Robert Ramirez of Dallas, Jimmy Ramirez of Dallas, Antonia (Cristobal) Moreno of Dallas, Ambrosia Ramirez of Dallas, Carmen (Robert) Morones of Grand Prairie, and Teresa (Roger) Martinez of Flower Mound.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 1:00 PM, at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home located at 7990 President George Bush Turnpike, Dallas, TX 75252.
