Barbara A. Bell, age 70, of Richardson, Texas passed away on September 24th, 2020. She was born in San Jose, California on September 12th, 1950 to parents Leon Bennet and Florence (Rudoy) Bennett. She had one brother, Jerrold Bennett.
Barbara launched into the working world as a young woman of only seventeen when she began as a counter girl in the jewelry department at Sears, Roebuck and Co. Over the years, she worked her way up through various roles with Sears, including store manager. Ultimately, her career led into human resources where she retired as a Human Resources Trainer after 47 years with the company. Barbara treasured the many friendships she developed over the decades with Sears.
Barbara married in 1972 and went on to raise two beautiful daughters, Stacie Bell Peña and Lorie Bell. She was exuberantly proud of both women and dedicated herself to their wellbeing and happiness as a mother, a friend, and a trusted advisor.
Over her time on this earth, Barbara profoundly touched the lives of many people simply by displaying her authenticity as a person and unwavering compassion for others. Much teased for her small stature, Barbara’s personality was most certainly not petite, able to fill any size room with her irrepressible and contagious laughter. Whether intended or not, Barbara’s genuineness of spirit cultivated innumerable friendships among those privileged to know her. She was a beacon of light to all those graced to be in her orbit.
Barbara was an avid reader, especially fond of Nicholas Sparks. She also loved to travel, perennially drawn to the ocean and sand until illness made these enjoyments unreachable. After a long and courageous battle with multiple sclerosis, Barbara gained her angel wings and was greeted at Heaven’s Gate by her father, mother and brother. She leaves behind an army of heartbroken friends and family.
Barbara is survived by her adoring partner of 18 years, Rick Chamberlin. She will be lovingly remembered by daughter Stacie and son-in-law Jacob, along with grandson Lucas. She will also be mourned by daughter Lorie and grandson, Payton. She will be missed dearly by her ‘other daughter’ and neighbor, Kim King and her husband, Doug. Barbara will forever be in the heart of her bestie for life, sister-friend, Carol Hurst.
Ever the planner, Barbara foreordained her own “going away party.” She was a believer that your perspective in life could impact everything, and it was always better to smile and laugh! She often handed out tiaras to those that she cared for and blew bubbles at all of life’s celebrations. Her family invites you all to join in her celebration of life on Tuesday, September 29th at 2pm while donning your favorite crown, and having your bubbles in hand. Services will be held at Sparkman Funeral Home, 1029 S. Greenville Avenue, Richardson, TX 75081.
