Ben proudly served his country in the United States Navy, and earned the rank of Radarman 2nd Class. He married the love of his life, Lou Gallimore, in 1952. They moved to Richardson, Texas in 1964 where they raised their five children.
Ben was happiest being outdoors in nature, and enjoyed gardening, landscaping, and working out in the yard. Ben took great pride in his health and fitness, and had a habit of jogging 5 miles every evening. He even religiously took vitamins before it was a trend. He also LOVED country and western dancing.
Ben is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Louise Cather; parents, Bill and Anna Cather; and sisters, Ina Mae Cather and Rowena Harrold.
Left to cherish his memory are his children; Ben Cather (Kathy), Jamey Cather (Elizabeth), Audrey Gottsleben, Samantha Cather, and Courtney Mendoza (Nick); 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and 1 honorary grandchild.
